How to Merge Cells

One common reason you may want to merge cells is when you have a header row with the same information for two or more columns like in the picture below. You can merge cells to make your spreadsheet more organized and easier to read.

Below I will show you three different ways to merge cells.

  4. Select Merge All

If you click on the arrow next to the tool you will have the same additional merge options as in the last method, but again usually merge all is will do the trick

This method isn’t a true keyboard shortcut but it can speed up your merging speed when you use it to select merge all from the menu

How to Unmerge Cells

Merged cells can make sorting, filtering, or copying and pasting data almost impossible. You may want to get rid of merged cells so that you can work with your spreadsheet easier.
